'i am only using my own methods to protect the mibu clan. if you don't agree with my methods you can leave.'
'fubiki... i swore before, i will follow you forever... even if... that is a road to hell... it will still be the same.'

as we read stories, there are many times when battles and fights occurs. especially in cases like this where people of the military or a certain organization had to fight and maybe to their deaths, are loyalty protrayed best. we always read in stories that people followed their masters or their friend, believing in them and do all they can for them. like the above, even if a person knew what he was doing was wrong, or that what he did might lead him to hell, he would still do it. that is the act of the ultimate loyalty, in my opinion.
are we loyal to our Master? the day we became christians, we in a way, pledge loyalty to God. yet sometimes, or should i say, most of the time, we are not loyal at all? we rebel and do what we want. we don't really care what He thinks sometimes. you are like that. i am like that. everyone is like that.
compared to the storybook characters, we are far off. God didn't require us to go to hell for Him. He didn't require us to fight to our deaths. nor did He ask us to do something extremely difficult which we cannot do. He only asks us to obey Him and He will provide us the strength to do so. yet i find myself deliberately rebelling many times. intentionally sinning. or maybe didn't even bother to resist the temptation.
are you like that too? i guess, most probably yes.
it seems somehow our loyalty is a bit weak. when we acknowledge God as our master, we should obey Him. i mean we obey our bosses right? we sign a contract to work for a company, and we obey our boss. even if we don't like our bosses, even if we talk behind their backs, we still obey them. because by working in the company we submit ourselves to their rule and obey them. we have given them the right to rule over us, in the company.
in our life, when we formed a bond with God through the blood of Christ, do we treat our master like our master? sometimes, i treat God as an auto-pilot system. you know in aeroplanes they have this auto-pilot system, where the pilot can take a rest and let the system do its job. and then when the pilot wants to take back control he switches it back to manual.
for me, sometimes i am too lazy to plan out my life, and i know since God knows what is best and want me to follow Him, i just throw Him my life choices and ask Him to make a choice for me. but as we all know, this is not really the desired submission and the following of His plan. it is just, i am lazy to choose. because i know, when the time comes when my own thinking and His thinking goes different ways, or it is a matter which i decided to take charge of, i know i will go back to manual control. maybe the system will say to go right, but i know i will go left. so, maybe my loyalty is still to this world. what about you?
would you turn right according to what God says even though in your heart and mind you would give a lot to go left? would you follow Him? just like the character in the story would follow his friend even to hell, would we follow our master as He leads us to heaven and a life full of meaning? it seemed easy to talk. reading stories are nice, and the way the characters act are touching. but when it comes to real life, don't say go to hell, even something as small as say choosing our careers may be difficult if we have to go with what God says. like for example, if my future partner is a non-christian, would i listen to God? i don't know, most probably not.
so you see... reality is different from stories. to pledge loyalty is easy. any 3 year old kid can do it. but when the time comes for you to prove your loyalty, many of us fail in the simplest of ways. we can pray 5 times a day, say grace during meals, do quiet time, go to church... but if God wants us to walk with Him down a certain path, would we do it?
maybe it is hard. or shall i say, many times it is hard. but unlike the story, following his leader may lead to hell. but if we follow our leader, we can go to heaven. we can have a meaningful life. our life may not be so messed up. we can attain happiness. so, if today God asks you not only to pledge your loyalty to Him, but to follow Him forever, even if it is a path you don't want to go, even if it is a path which is very hard to walk, will you follow Him?
i hope you will. and i hope i will. one day, i hope to be able to give up manual control, and let the most professional Pilot take over.
