A Simple Life

if you ask people, why do they study so hard, they will tell you, it is to have a better future. if you ask people, why do they work so hard, they will tell you, it is to buy the things they need and want.

if i could just summarize what people want in general, probably it would be a bank account with enough money to spend on what they need and the little luxuries they want, a person whom they love and who love them back, and then to go on ahead to chase after their dreams.

probably, this is a very simple kind of life. however, if you look at it from another perspective, to get this simple kind of life, you have to go through a lot of not-so-simple situations. to earn enough money to satisfy our needs and little wants, we need to really earn a lot. at least, here in the city, that is the case. to find your life partner and to live happily ever after, you must first find such a person at the right place at the right time, with the other person and you always caring for each other instead of always expecting the other party to give in to you. a bond must be built that will withstand anything. relationships are always complicated. or perhaps it is us humans who make such a simple and pure thing so complex. and to chase after our dreams. dreams. there are a reason why they are called dreams. because right till the end, probably, they are the part of our lives which we can only see from afar yet can never grasp with our own hands.

in the end, such a simple life is far far away. because to reach that state of simplicity, you have to work harder than all the others, and be better than all the others. probably at the end when you look back, everyone is just chasing this unreachable dream.

but because the dream is unreachable, probably that's why, it looks so bright from where we stand. and that brightness compels us to run towards the goal, even though deep down in our hearts, we know, more than anyone, that reality is different from fairytale. it is not as if you work hard enough, if you wish for it strongly enough, if you want it badly enough, and if you are a good guy, the dreams will come true.

probably at the end of the road, after trying everything and making countless sacrifices, you are still far away from your goal. probably thats why, they said, dreams are only dazzling because they can never be reached.
